Dr. Eric Verruto completed his undergraduate education at Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and graduated from SUNY College of Optometry where he received the Billie M. Lyons Memorial Award for distinguished service to the college community.

He has participated in multiple ophthalmic volunteer missions to underprivileged communities in Central and South America. He is fluent in Spanish, which he learned while living in Chile, teaching English before pursuing a career in Optometry.
Dr. Verruto specializes in treating advanced dry eye disease and brings a vast array of dry eye therapies to New Paltz Eye Care, including, prescribing topical and oral agents, punctual plug occlusion, NuLids blepharo-microexfoliation, Lipiflow thermal MG expression, autologous serum tears, and scleral contact lenses.
Dr. Verruto is an endurance athlete and outdoor enthusiast whose interests include gravel cycling, mountain biking, trail running, and stand-up paddleboarding.
He is an active member of the Shawangunk Biking Association and has resided in the Shawangunk Ridge vicinity since 2016, and is excited to now practice within his local community.
